2010
Good news! Still here, with a lot going on:
- We premiered our new show, "It's Time," for children ages 1-3 and their families, at the Albuquerque Museum of Art on January 2, 2010. Isabelle created a French cousin of the show, with Thérèse Angebault, in France, called "Quit dit gris," which premiered in February, 2009, at the festival Melimome in Kingersheim, Alsace, and will play during the festival of Avignon in July and the festival at Charlesville-Meziers in September, as well as in the festival ACTA l' Enfance de l'art. Please check our calendar for upcoming performances of "It's Time." Hope to see you there.
- Our non-profit organization, Friends of Puppet & Object Theatre, has been funded, and honored, by Maggie's Giving Circle and the Albuquerque Community Foundation, to make a series of performances for UNM Children's Hospital Child Life Program. We look forward to intimate performances for very small groups of children and their families.
- Friends of Puppet & Object Theatre, has been funded for the upcoming project: UETF, McCune Foundation and New Mexico Arts are assisting with the creation of the next show: "Insomnia." We are excited to be working with colleagues from here and abroad, looking forward to an exciting, cutting edge creation, which will take a humorous look at our personal and cultural anxieties. There will be at least two versions of the show, one for young audiences and one for adults; not age discriminate.
- Melody Mock, artist, writer and musician, has joined our team! She is helping us with administration, booking, promotion, website, photography, all around support. We are thrilled, and grateful to the McCune foundation, which made it possible. Melody really is the missing link.
- We have almost completed our new workshop and are installing a wood surface for rehearsal: recycled platforms from the old Highland Theatre. (Thanks to the generosity of the New Mexico Dance Institute, who is about to occupy that space) Name of new space: La Poblana.
Breaking news: spring is bursting. Wind is blowing. Judging by our speed keeping up with this web site, you may be reading this in the fall....Whatever the season, enjoy!
